Best Luxury Hotel for Mancations
Father-Son, Father's Day, and Vacations with the Guys at Fairmont
Vacation packages offered at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts range from extreme sports to golf and wine tasting. These luxury male-bonding trips make for great guy getaways.
One-size-fits-all vacations aren't for everyone. Romantic weekend getaways and luxury family resorts are great, but travel for men is different: Father and son vacations, mancation trips, and Father's Day vacations typically involve more traditionally masculine activities. Nothing wrong with a weekend away for the guys, after all. In turn, male bonding through "Iron John" camping doesn't fit every man's view of a relaxing getaway either. Swatting away mosquitos in the deep woods is not everyone's idea of the best vacation with the guys.
Fairmont Hotels and Resorts offers several different mancation travel vacations, with varying levels of activity and luxury. A father and son trip, be it for Father's Day or otherwise, provides fun memories to last a lifetime. And a vacation with a bunch of good friends counts among the best ways to take a break from the daily grind.
Some Fairmont Hotels & Resorts vacation packages for men:
- The Fairmont Chateau Whistler offers a Mountain Adventure package. This would be a great Father's Day travel gift for the extreme adventure seeking dad. Home base is the luxury resort, but the outdoor vacation package includes 4-wheeling, heli-skiing, golf, and ziptrekking. In the winter, all of Whistler and Blackcomb mountains are among the best ski spots in North America; a ski buff would love it here. This active mancation is available year-round, but some activities are, obviously, season dependent.
- The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa now has the California Drive and Drive Faster Package, for guys who want to have both excitement and relaxation during their getaway. This is a great father-son vacation package offers three days of formula racing and two round of golf at the luxury Sonoma Golf Club. Because it's in California's wine country, guests also receive a bottle of wine and a wine tasting tour. The formula racing features the "Techniques of Racing" course at ESPN Jim Russel Racing School.
- The Fairmont Kea Lani is my favorite luxury resort in Maui. The resort's best vacation package for Father's Day - and otherwise - is the Hawaiian Canoe Experience. Men had better already be in great shape for this workout. Besides learning to navigate the Hawaiian instrument, guests learn some traditional chants and are taught about the historic importance of the canoe for island life. The Kea Lani is on the best stretch of beach on Maui, and downtime can be spent snorkeling, scuba diving, or hitting a few buckets of balls at the Wailea Golf Course.
- The Fairmont St Andrews in Scotland offers the best golf vacation package; One for the Boys makes for one great trip for golf buddies, Father's Day or not. This mancation package has got to be a serious reward, what with 36 holes of gold on the Torrance Course, 36 holes of golf on the Devlin course, full Scottish meals, and an off-road driving experience. This special, ultra luxury travel golf vacation package is currently only available until December 2007, but it may be extended (depending on demand). For fathers and sons or friends with deep pockets, golf at St. Andrews is hard to top!
- The Fairmont Miramar Hotel's Mancation Vacation, in Santa Monica California, takes its inspiration from its location. Route 66, that icon of Americana, terminates here - and guys who bike can experience male bonding with a Harley-Davidson joy ride. The Mancation Vacation package goes beyond the motorcycle ride (with Harley-Davidson jacket and helmet for the trip) to a stay at the luxury hotel and a great steak dinner at The Grille. This fun vacation isn't as extreme as the father-son Whistler trip; its the best fit for guys who want to vacation together without a huge workout.
Fairmont is one of my favorite luxury resort hotel brands in the world. Be it Father's Day or any time of year, it's nice to know that Fairmont offers a wide variety of guys' vacations.
