It's smart-looking, dent-resistant and fully guaranteed, but will this chic streamlined suitcase with round edges hold as much as its square-cornered fabric competitors?

Just as rolling luggage revolutionized travel, all-direction wheels have changed the experience again, making the trip through airports and hotels easier and less tiring, even with heavily packed bags.

The biggest advantage of these spherical wheels is that the suitcase can sit on all four of them at once as it moves along. So there is no drag on arms or shoulders, and a briefcase can sit firmly on top without swinging or overbalancing the luggage. The bag can roll behind, in front or beside the passenger, making it easy to keep an eye on, and easy to maneuver on escalators, in crowded lines and up airplane aisles.

Ultra Light Weight Luggage

Several luggage manufacturers make four-on-the-floor rolling bags. Titan adds several other features that make their Diamond Edition the Rolls Royce of rolling luggage. First is the ultra-light polycarbonate construction, weighing in at several pounds below fabric luggage of the same size. The 22-inchUSA Carry On, which meets the US size limits for domestic flights, weighs just 7.8 pounds.

Its scratch-resistant surface and rounded edges and corners, along with the flexibility of the polycarbonate sides, make it almost impossible to scratch or dent, even when dropped from a distance. The rounded corners and streamlined shape makes it fit easily into overhead luggage racks.

Lots of Packing Space

When opened, the interior appears smaller than similar-sized traditional bags, with the housing for its telescoping handle and four wheels taking up a sizable space in the bottom section. The rounded corners also cut into packing space. But in a comparison test, the two interior compartments actually hold almost the same amount as a 22-inch conventional shape.

The top section is completely enclosed by a zippered fabric cover, which allows it to be packed tight without bulging or allowing small items to slip out. The housing in the base is spaced well enough to allow for shoes and other bulky objects. The strong sides withstand considerable pressure, so its capacity is far greater than in appears. It easily holds enough for a week’s travel.

360-degree Luggage Wheels

Fully loaded, it is still easy to guide along without any pressure on the arms – in fact, it can be propelled with only one finger on the handle – or if necessary, pushed along with a light tap of the toe while reaching for ticket and passport at the boarding gate. Its real eye-catching feat, however, is the ability to roll upright and sideways up the aisle of an airplane without catching on seats or other passengers.

Each piece is fitted with a tiny combination lock that opens with a TSA key, if it is selected for inspection. The luggage comes with Titan’s “No Matter What” lifetime warranty. If it is damaged, Titan will repair or replace it free.
