For couples looking for a romantic honeymoon spot, the Half Moon Resort in Jamaica is tops. The Half Moon Resort is the best luxury resort hotel in Montego Bay, Jamaica for honeymoons, and other adult romantic vacations as well. 400 beachfront acres make this all-inclusive resort one of the largest luxury resort hotels in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Because of its size, the Half Moon doesn't feel crowded, even during peak travel seasons.
The Setting
Half Moon Bay is named for its crescent-shaped beach. The hotel villas are just a few feet from the beach, while the hotel is somewhat further away (can't get much closer than a few feet, however). It is an incredibly upscale all-inclusive resort, with prices to match. Adults looking for a romantic vacation, be it honeymoon, anniversary, or "hey, the kids are finally in college," will find the Half Moon to be ideal.
The Service
One thing that sets Half Moon apart from its Jamaica luxury resort cousins, is the high quality of service. The concierge and staff are to a one friendly, professional and capable. From the front desk to housekeeping and the guys that rake the beach, they respond quickly to requests - which seems to contraindicate the well-known culture of "island time" notable on Jamaica and other Caribbean isles.
The Day Camp for Children
There is a top quality day camp for children as well, so adults can have some alone time. The Anansi Children's Village is an uncrowded, clean, and safe kids' camp on the resort grounds. Children ages 3 to 12 are kept busy, active, and entertained here. The playground and indoor activity area are well staffed, as is the child sized wading pool - although the older kids prefer to do water sports that skew more to their own age.
The Restaurants
The best of the Half Moon's resort restaurants are The Seagrape Terrace (breakfast, lunch and dinner), and the upscale restaurant at the Half Moon golf course, The Sugar Mill. The place that serves Italian is just average.
The Day Spas
The full service day spa is being updated into a new spa called the Fern Tree. This luxury day spa will have the same massages, facials and romantic couples spa treatments as does the current Bodywork day spa, but in a top of the line luxury setting featuring the best European, Jamaican and Indian spa treatments.
The Best Family Activity
The most special family activity at the Half Moon is, in my opinion, the Dolphin Lagoon. This resort is the only one in the Caribbean (outside of the Atlantis Resort) to offer an on-site "swim with dolphins" experience. Children love it, adults love it - it's an amazing experience for anyone, and adds to an unforgettable honeymoon. To swim with dolphins without leaving your hotel or resort is an unbelievable luxury; it's so popular, I'd recommend making your Dolphin Lagoon reservations before your vacation.
Golf
Golfers will be happy enough with the resort's on-site golf course. It's been called the best walking course for all levels of golf players. If you're looking for a more challenging golf course, the White Witch Golf Course is next door at the Ritz-Carlton Golf & Spa Resort Jamaica.
