Jennifer W. Miner :
The atmosphere of a day spa is crucial for the quality of my experience there. I don't like "new age-y" music, but I love to hear quiet sounds of running water and other natural sounds being piped in. Also, I relax almost instantly if the lighting is just a little dim, rather than jarringly bright. What aspects of day spas do you like to notice when you walk in the door?

I love nature sounds too, best of all. I even have a clock that makes nature sounds for my city apartment. And I agree about the new agey music...it's too goofy, IMO.

I also like native american flute music at spas.

I love giving my mother a day of activity - usually a lunch out and some favorite shopping like gardening stores (we both love to garden) and then dinner for all of the moms is usually prepared by my dad, daughter and brother. My daughter usually does the breakfast in bed routine and a small present (she is a poor uni student ) and pampers me in between the events with my mom. I look forward to it every year!

Oh Joni, reading your post made me miss my mom. She and I live 3,000 miles apart, so none of those multigenerational Mother's day lovefests for me. She is unsubtle and has requested a neck pillow. :) Jen Miner
